CHARITY FUNDRAISING

In 2005 I was fortunate enough to raise £1,250 for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. The Hospice, based in Farnham, cares for patients with cancer and other terminal illnesses from South-West Surrey and North-East Hampshire. It costs £3.8 million a year – that’s £10,000 a day – to run the Hospice and they rely on public donations to cover 84p of every £1 they spend.  The Hospice is not part of the NHS. In 2005 the Hospice faced a financial shortfall of half a million pounds because income from donations and legacies had not kept pace with the rising costs of caring for patients and their loved ones.

In 2006 I walked the Hadrian's Wall footpath across the width of England - 84 miles in 5 days - and thanks to your generosity raised over £3,000 for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. Thanks once again to everyone who sponsored me!

In 2007 I took a more restful approach - and slept rough in London on the night of Friday October 5th to raise funds for the NCH childrens charity. This charity supports young homeless people - and with your support I raised £2,000 - many thanks!

In 2008 will probably be having a night under the stars again - watch this space!
